EFFECTS OF BAD CHARACTERS ON MARRIAGE

Bad characters are so dangerous to marriage to the extent that no marriage can break without it. Many marriage counsellors decry the increasing rate of divorce without addressing its root cause which is bad character. Here, I will show you bad characters on marriage. 

1. Bad character makes marriage difficult: Despite the fact that money and sex are obvious reasons for marital problems, bad character is actually the roof. Our mode of handling these two issues (sex and money) will determine the outcome of any marriage. In fact, Yoruba proverb says " A woman misplaced her character and blamed destiny for not giving her a good husband". It is not about destiny; but it is about bad character.

2. It is the root of divorce: It is easily deducible that bad character is the root of divorce as a result of bad marriages. It takes one party's bad character to ensure a marriage hits the rocks. Any marriage governed by the spirit of God can never end in divorce.

3. Debar progress in marriage: As problems arise due to bad attitude or the other, the family suffers and cannot progress. Darkness and gloom will always fill the vacuum once the glory of God is absent in the family. 

4. Brings disunity: No family can be bonded in the absence of love and peace. Bad character falls in the category of neither love or peace. 

5. Encourages third party intrusion: As problems escalate, trouble makers come in pretending to help the couple but they create even more troubles.

6. Leads to minus-minus marriage: The inevitable result of two people with bad characters is a minus-minus marriage. This marriage can never profit God, His kingdom, children or even the couple involved. 

7. Turn friends to foes: When bad behaviours are not curtailed, one time lovers are turned into sworn enemies. 

8. It is a bad example for children:  Bad habits are easily transferable to children as the couple becomes a bad example for them.

9. Leads to bad parenting: A house divided against itself cannot stand. When couples are not united, they can never be a great parents.

10. Leads to self-empire: As the marriage further deteriorates, the couple becomes more selfish, stingy, self-centred and even keep secrets from each other. They may make vital decisions without the input of their mates.

11. Affects finance: The family finance is affected when focus is lost and synergy missing.

12. Destroys vision and creativity: The synergy needed to make progress as a couple fizzles out in the face of bad attitudes.

13. Affects health negatively: Hatred, envy, jealousy, worry, sadness, malice, bitterness, resentment etc affect the body like cancer or high blood pressure.

14. Debar answers to prayer and affects spiritual life negatively: Where there is no unity, God is not there. God is not the author of confusion. So, He can't answer prayer from such home. Eventually, the spiritual lives of the couple become dead. "Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honour to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered". (1 Peter 3:17).
